  • Courses are delivered in familiar, accessible community locations across the city.
  • Funded service – no cost to eligible learners.
  • Focus on real-life impact – supporting employment, wellbeing, and family life.

Proud to be “Good” – Our Ofsted Report December 2023

Adult Family and Community Learning logo

Adult, Family and Community Learning are delighted to announce that we continue to be a “Good” provider after our recent Ofsted visit. A short inspection of the service was conducted in December 2023 where inspectors collected a wide range of evidence to inform judgements, including visiting learning sessions, scrutinising learners’ work, seeking the views of learners, staff, and other stakeholders, and examining the provider’s documentation and records.

For those who are unaware, Ofsted stands for “Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills”, the report provides a comprehensive evaluation scrutinising every aspect of the service. Ofsted use a robust framework, The Education Inspection Framework (EIF) to assess the quality of education and training providers.

Key Highlights

“Learners who have a history of non-participation in education become fully engaged in learning through their courses and are keen to progress and achieve. They are enthusiastic and positive, and value the tuition that they receive.”

“Family and community learners benefit from the opportunity to learn in their community.”

“Learners, together with their children, enjoy these sessions which enhance their skills in supporting their children’s education and development”

“Leaders and managers respond effectively to the changing demands of the local population. They rightly recognise the impact of the pandemic and the economic crisis on adult engagement with learning.”
