About Public Health
The council is responsible for a number of public health functions:
The role of Public Health
Doncaster’s Public Health team promote and protect the health of all residents, enhancing the overall quality of life for Doncaster’s population. We are passionate about closing the gaps in certain communities, who experience poorer health outcomes and face greater barriers to receiving quality healthcare. We work with a variety of partner organisations to identify opportunities to create the right conditions for residents to have healthy lives, looking at poor environment, employment, housing conditions, education, and other aspects of living conditions.
We also work closely with health and social care partners from across the Borough including the NHS, emergency services, voluntary and community organisations to improve access to healthcare services, especially for vulnerable or underserved populations.
Our health protection work includes planning the prevention and response to health threats including action on adverse weather and responding to outbreaks of infectious disease.
