Doncaster Council has been successful in securing funding to deliver better sustainable transport connections in Thorne and Moorends, between Omega Boulevard and West Road, Moorends. The route forms part of a wider plan to create a network of walking and cycling infrastructure across Doncaster which will connect people to transport hubs and areas of employment and education.
We have many fantastic memories of when the Tour de Yorkshire came to Doncaster in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
The funding Scheme was open to communities and allowed them to apply for small pots of money to assist them in delivering events, decorating their area and take advantage of the event within their Community.
Many of Doncaster’s Schools got on board with the UCI Road World Championships 2019 event.
Doncaster hosted the UCI Road World Championships 2019, with two stage starts from The Dome on Friday 27th September 2019.

On Friday 27th September, the Womens Junior and Mens Under 23 Road Races for the UCI Road World Championships started at Doncaster Dome.
Similar to Tour De Yorkshire Events, the UCI Road World Championships 2019 gave the opportunity for Communities to create Land Art which could be picked up by the TV Helicopter Crews and seen by 250 million viewers worldwide.
