Opening or Expanding a Wraparound Provision

Find out how to open or expand a wraparound provision.

Wraparound care is offered through breakfast clubs and after school clubs, and sometimes holiday clubs, expanding childcare at either end of the school day. There are many benefits to wraparound childcare, for children, families and schools. These can vary by school and circumstances, but may include:

  • Enabling parents to work or study
  • Supporting vulnerable children
  • Offering enriching activities that children enjoy
  • Attracting parents to the school
  • Supporting a soft start to the school day and attendance
  • Investing fees into the school or community facilities

How to Become a Wraparound Provider

There are many ways to offer wraparound care across Doncaster.  By becoming a childminder and offering childcare services to school-age children, you could provide a drop off and pick up service to a local school or group of schools.  You could also offer wraparound from a nursery provision catering for the needs of families with both Early Years and school-aged children.  In Doncaster, we have many different delivery models for Wraparound, including childminders who offer their service on a school site, or Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) Providers who link directly with a school to offer breakfast and after-school club provision either on or off school site.
