The Better Care Fund (BCF) is intended to transform local health and social care services so that they work together to provide improved and joined up care and support. It is a government initiative, bringing existing resources from the NHS and local authorities into a single pooled budget.
Work on the plans for Doncaster started in 2013, with reports to the Health and Wellbeing Board in December 2013, September 2014 and November 2014.
Our BCF plan has been approved by NHS England without conditions, 1 of only 6 in the country and the only one in the North, following the Nationally Consistent Assurance Review (NCAR) process. This means that the plan was considered to be robust. Doncaster Council and NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group jointly with stakeholders are now moving forward with this plan.
