The Food Team is responsible for inspection of food and food premises from production to consumption.
This guidance is not legally binding but provides advice regarding the design of catering premises taking into consideration current legislative requirements. Any alternative standards being considered should be discussed with and approved by a relevant officer from this department prior to being adopted.
The Council has now moved to a new scheme for publishing the hygiene standards in local food businesses called the food hygiene rating scheme.
This affects all food businesses including caterers, primary producers (farmers), manufacturers, distributors and retailers.
