School's Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Policy and Strategy

Why schools need an Anti-Fraud and Corruption Policy

Schools are required to have in place a robust system of controls to safeguard themselves against fraudulent or improper use of public money and assets.  Arrangements should both prevent malpractice and enable prompt detection should fraud or corruption occur.

Whilst schools may have had informal arrangements in place previously, the Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS) requires schools to ensure they have adequate arrangements in place to prevent and detect fraud.

What is the Schools' Anti-Fraud Bribery and Corruption Policy/Strategy?

The Schools' Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption policy and strategy form part of an Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption framework which is a series of inter-related actions and procedures designed to prevent and detect fraud, bribery or corruption in schools.

Many of these actions and procedures are already in use by schools therefore, by adopting the policy and strategy the school will strengthen its anti-fraud, bribery and corruption arrangements.

The Schools Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption policy and strategy has been based on the Doncaster Council Anti-Fraud, Bribery and Corruption Policy and Strategy which was updated in 2012/13 to reflect current best practice.
