Review of SEND Provision for Doncaster

The Department for Education (DfE) has supported all local authorities (LAs) to undertake a strategic review of their High Needs provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The review will enable LAs to access additional capital funding to develop provision for children and young people who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plans),

This consultation is part of a series of engagement activities to be held during the 2017/18 academic year. An outline plan is available to read and download.  Following a more comprehensive data analysis of need and capacity due to conclude on 12th March, an updated short plan will be published on Doncaster’s Local Offer website by 14th March.  Doncaster intends to involve the sponsor of the new Communication and Interaction special school in some of the proposed developments. Further amendments and more specific details will be published in the summer term 2018.

Have your say

We really need your feedback to help shape our plans so please take time to read the strategy information attached and provide us with your comments via our online survey.
The SEND Strategic Intent 2018 document and Inclusion Principles can be found in the downloads and resources section on this page.

The survey is now closed, you can view the survey results on the Local Offer.
This initial consultation gives parents/carers, children and young people,  education providers, education, health and social care practitioners the opportunity to give their view about key principles and priorities to developing, increasing and improving our SEND provision in Doncaster. We have two consultation surveys: one for adults and one for young people.

Your views will be collated and used to inform shaping the future of SEND provision.  We will publish an updated plan on Doncaster’s Local Offer on 14th March 2018 where a summary of the consultation responses can also be found. Further consultation and engagement events will take place over the summer term to provide further detail.
