YourVoice- Advice and Support- Loneliness and Isolation

It’s normal to feel lonely or isolated sometimes. If it feels like these feelings are taking over, we’re here to help.

You don’t need to be physically alone or cut off to feel lonely. You might be surrounded by other people. But it can feel like you’re on your own or that no one understands how you feel. 

Loneliness can make us feel down. And if you feel like this, you can get help.

You might feel lonely if you:

If you're feeling lonely, you could:

  • get advice about building confidence and self-esteem - this can help you feel confident when you meet new people and focus on stuff you like about yourself
  • use Art box to draw or write down your thoughts and see what makes you feel better or worse
  • get support from other people on childline message boards
  • talk to an adult you trust
  • join a club or group where you can meet new people - this could be a sports team, music class or book club. Visit our get involved page for information about what you can do in Doncaster
  • talk to a Childline counsellor for support.

Action for Children also have advice.

School nurses hold clinics in every Secondary School in Doncaster every two weeks. They also have an e-clinic that you can book an appointment in advance for. You can text their service for more information and to book on 07917 031891.
