Hear Me: Training for Professionals

What is Hear Me… telling it like it is?

Hear Me training provides a unique insight into the care system by those who understand it the best, our care experienced children and young people.

The course has been developed and is delivered by young people who all have experience of being in care.   It is an essential course for anyone who works with children in care or makes decisions affecting their lives.

Our young people take participants through a series of practical activities, presentations and discussions that will provide an insight into what life is like being a child in care. Challenging assumptions that are made about the care experiences of young people.

It concentrates on the skills needed when working with children who use services – active listening, effective communication, observation and report writing.

The course gives participants time to think about young people as individuals, not as case numbers.

What do professionals say about the course?

"This has been an excellent day which really makes me think about my work with children and young people in care and questions some of our routine practice." - A looked after nurse.
"Amazing training which all professionals from all sectors involved in young people's lives should attend to better understand the impacts of their experiences have had on them"
"This honestly is by far the best training that I have received.  I feel this training should be delivered to all professionals as mandatory that work with young people"
"Today's training was amazing, really enjoyed it.  Authentic, eye opener and the fact that is was delivered by care leavers themselves was brilliant"
