The entrance to Doncaster train station and forecourt are being transformed into an open, vibrant, welcoming and easily accessible new arrival point for Doncaster.
The plans show our ambition and vision to transform the station forecourt. It will become a quality gateway which delivers a great first impression for visitors arriving in Doncaster by train. This will help stimulate interest from investors and developers, helping to attract new investment and create jobs for the borough and wider region.
The plans include moving the car park to the old Royal Mail Sorting Office site. This means the existing car parking space can be transformed and opened up into an attractive public space for all to enjoy.
There will be a dedicated taxi rank, new car parking and easier drop off facilities. The plans will help ensure easier flow of traffic around the station as well as easier pedestrian access to the town centre. There will also be better access for cyclists and secure cycle parking.
To ensure commuters are protected from all weathers, LNER, who manage the station are investing in a contemporary glass canopy on the front of the station building.
There is also exceptional public art. More information is available by clicking on the link below:
The exciting redevelopment of the station forecourt is being carried out in partnership with LNER and South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE). The scheme is benefiting from £7.5m of Sheffield City Region Local Growth Funding.
