Library membership application form

You can join online using the following e-form, or you can download and print the library membership form attached to this page in the right hand side.

How to join the library

To borrow books, CDs, DVDs and other materials from any of the libraries in Doncaster you will need to complete a membership application form (available above or a downloadable version is available at the bottom of this page) and you will need to bring proof of identity with you to the library, which must show your full name and address. You will then become a full member and be issued with a membership card which enables you to borrow items or use the computer terminals.

If you have no proof of name and address with you, you will be given an Internet Plus membership which will allow you to borrow only 2 books and to access the computer terminals for 30 minutes per day. When you return to the library with proof of identity you will be upgraded to full membership.

Children and teenagers

Under 16s need to ask a parent, guardian or carer to complete a form on their behalf and provide proof of identification showing name and address.

Examples of identity with full names and address

Examples of identity with full names and address are:

  • medical card
  • current drivers licence
  • pension book
  • child benefit book
  • council rent book
  • official letter - for example recent telephone, gas, water, electricity bill
  • any other official document providing that it has both your name and address

Please ask the library staff if you have any questions about joining the library.

You can access your own membership records via any computer terminal in a library or via the website Library catalogue and membership records, from the home, work, school or college. Just ask the staff for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) which you will need to enter, together with your personal barcode number on your membership card. You will then be able to request items and have access to our 24 hour online resources and also the Digital Library

A-Z eResources

The A-Z eResources page allows library members to access all of the electronic resources the library service offer including e-books and e-audio books free of charge and many are available 24 hours a day.

We offer several digital download services giving the public free 24-hour access to eBooks, eAudio, newspapers, eMagazines, and music downloads. These services are designed to be used by library members outside the library. The eBook and eAudio services both give you 10 downloads for a 3 week loan period.  The music download offers 3 tracks each week and these are yours to keep as well as 3 hours of free uninterrupted streaming.

From the A-Z eResources page you can also access links to resources that are available to members from within each library such as Find My Past, Ancestry & Access to Research
