Specialist and Supported Housing

Doncaster wants to ensure its residents live in homes that support good health and wellbeing. Providing the right homes and support is vital in enabling vulnerable people to live independently in the community; ensuring they have choice and control of where and how they live.

Specialist and Supported Housing:

Specialist housing is used to describe a home designed or adapted to meet a specific need and where no support is immediately needed or provided.  Specialist housing can be part of a new build development or can include existing homes that has been adapted to include items such as a stair lift.

Supported housing refers to homes where there is a level of support attached, either floating support (a visiting support worker) or where support is on site 24/7.

Specialist and supported housing in Doncaster are usually delivered in partnership with Registered Social Landlords (Housing Associations).
