Licensed properties- How to submit your annual gas safety certificate

This page is for the submission of gas safety certificates for licensed private rented properties in Doncaster. This includes Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO's) and properties within Selective Licensing Schemes.

What is this for?

If you are the person having control of a licensed private rented property within Doncaster and gas is supplied to the house, you are legally required to produce to the local housing authority annually for their inspection a gas safety certificate obtained in respect of the house within the last 12 months.

If your property is not required to be licensed, you are still required to obtain an annual gas safety certificate, but there is no need for you to submit a copy of this to Doncaster Council unless requested to do so.

What is it going to cost?

There will not be a cost for submitting you gas safety certificate to Doncaster Council.

What we need from you?

Please send an electronic copy (eg. PDF, Digital image etc.) of your gas safety certificate to selective.licensing@doncaster.gov.uk

Please ensure you include 'gas safety certificate' and the address of the property within the subject field

The e-mail must also contain the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Contact number
  • Licence number for the property (LN/.......)

Please remember to attach the certificate.

Alternatively you can post a copy of your certificate to Doncaster Council, Housing Enforcement, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU. We will need the same information as described above.

What you should expect from us?

Due to the high volume of e-mails which the Housing team receives, we will not send confirmation of receipt of gas safety certificates. However, if there any any issues with your submissions, we will contact you to discuss any additional information which is required.

We recommend that you obtain a deliver/ read receipt from you e-mail system.

What happens if I fail to submit my annual gas safety certificate?

It is an offence for a licence holder to fail to submit their annual gas safety certificate.

Failure to comply with this requirement may result in prosecution which, if found guilty carries a criminal record and an unlimited fine, or a civil penalty up to £30,000.
