This course is suitable for anyone working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. Anyone who has taken the Level 2 Award in Food Safety training course is recommended to take a refresher course three years after completion. This course has been designed to give an appreciation of the fundamentals of good safe practice. It maybe available to individual candidates or can be customised to meet an organisation's specific needs for a group of employees.
In an informal atmosphere, the following issues are included:
- Personal Hygiene
- Responsibility for food safety
- The work environment
- Product safety
The course is of approximately 4 hours duration including refreshment breaks and exam. It is open to individual or company bookings and can be presented to suit individual company requirements, i.e. weekends, evenings etc.
The course is followed by a short multiple-choice test comprising of 30 questions, the pass mark being 20. The test can be conducted orally for anyone who has reading difficulties provided we are notified in advance of the course date.
All successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering Certificate.
