About Resilience and Emergency Planning

The Resilience and Emergency Planning Team prepare resilience and emergency planning arrangements for Doncaster Council and the residents of Doncaster.

Our Aims

We aim to reduce risks, threats and impacts of emergencies and disruptive challenges to people, infrastructure, security, economy and the environment in Doncaster and fulfil the statutory requirement of the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and associated statutory guidance.

The Resilience and Emergency Planning Team work closely with:

  • Partner agencies including, emergency services, voluntary organisations and faith groups
  • Sporting venues to ensure that they are prepared for emergencies
  • Parish council and other community groups, to help communities prepare for emergencies
  • Schools to provide emergency planning guidance

The Resilience and Emergency Planning Team supports the emergency response in a number of ways, including:

  • Minimising the disruption to the community
  • Minimising the disruption to infrastructure
  • Providing emergency information to the public
  • Ensuring that the council still delivers its priority activities during emergencies and disruptions
  • Providing care and comfort for those affected
  • Working with the emergency services and partners to coordinate the response
  • Arranging emergency shelter should members of the public be evacuated from their homes
  • Lead on restoring communities and the environment following emergencies

Definition of an Emergency

  • Any event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the UK
  • Any event or situation which threatens serious damage to the environment of a place in the UK
  • War or terrorism which threatens serious damage to the security of the UK
