Drone Guidance

It is your legal responsibility to be aware of advice on, and restrictions to, private drone use. Before flying any drone from council land please check the legality before proceeding. Find out how through the Civil Aviation Authority and guidance from dronesafe.uk

Dronesafe.uk states that,

“Drone use is growing at a rapid rate in the UK and our skies are some of the busiest anywhere in the world. The website is designed to help ensure that drone users in the UK can easily access the information they need about how to fly their drones safely and legally, without endangering others.”

Be Drone Safe, Be Drone Aware, Be Drone Legal

From 30 November 2019 it is illegal to fly most drones without registering and passing a theory test. Drones fall into different categories, and different rules apply about where they can be flown. Legal responsibility lies with you for each flight. Failure to fly responsibly could result in criminal prosecution.

Register yourself to use a drone or model aircraft at https://register-drones.caa.co.uk/
