A full training programme is available for professionals in relation to their job role. This training is multi agency and free of charge.

All training sessions are currently being delivered through Microsoft Teams.

All training is free and open to a multi-agency audience for the workforce of Doncaster and Rotherham to support professionals and volunteers in their job roles.

Courses available

Domestic Abuse Awareness - This course provides a full overview of what Domestic Abuse is, the dynamics af relationships, how to recognise it, asking the question and also how to signpost and support if a disclosure is forthcoming.  This course should be undertaken by those wanting to refresh their knowledge and before undertaking any further training on the programme.  

Once you have completed this domestic abuse awareness training you can apply to be a domestic abuse pin badge wearer.  This is a small enamel badge that shows people that you are trained in domestic abuse and if they talk to you, you will help them get the information and support they need.  On completion of the training email sophie.bishop@doncaster.gov.uk for your badge.

DASH and MARAC - (formerly known as Level 3) - This course is suitable for those professionals that will need to complete the DASH Risk Assessment form and also gives an overview of the MARAC process.  The Domestic Abuse Awareness course should be completed prior to this course unless you have an up to date in depth knowledge of Domestic Abuse.  

Stalking and Harassment - This course is to increase knowledge and understanding of this area of domestic abuse and look at how to support evidence gathering

Coercive and Controlling Behaviour -  This course will increase practitioner knowledge of this area and support evidence gathering for victims.  Developed with the Adult Safeguarding Team this course also takes into account mental capacity when defining domestic abuse.   

Honour Abuse, Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - This course will support professionals to develop knowledge in these 3  areas of domestic abuse provision and enable signposting to specialist support.  

Supporting LGBT+ and Male Victims of Domestic Abuse - This course explores the additional risks and barriers faced by male victims and people from the LGBT+ community when experiencing and reporting domestic abuse. Understand the experiences of male and LGBT+ victims and how to respond.

Supporting Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse (primary age) - This course will enable delegates to develop skills and knowledge in order to safeguard and support children experiencing domestic abuse. The session explores the impact on children, how to help children to develop an understanding of healthy relationships and includes a range of tools, techniques and methods to work with children affected by domestic abuse including signposting to specialist services when necessary.

Supporting Young People Experiencing Domestic Abuse - This course seeks to support professionals working with young people. Professionals will learn how to identify domestic abuse in young people, look at the young people’s risk assessment, and consider healthy relationships. Understand the importance of risk assessment and safety planning, and the importance of child protection measures.

Sexual Abuse Awareness including Sexual Harassment - This course will provide an introduction to sexual violence and abuse including definitions, the law, employer responsibilities under the Worker Protection Act, support services and referral pathways.

Supporting Older Victims of Domestic Abuse and those with care and support needs - This course is aimed at people who come into contact with older people and people with care and support needs.  It highlights the additional risks and barriers for this group of people.  

See Me for Me training - The training programme is aimed at professionals, stakeholders and third sector organisations who potentially will work with, engage with or be in a position to early identify risk of entry into sex work.
