What is this for?
To order a copy of a birth, marriage, death or civil partnership certificates.
Copy certificates will now only be generated on the non-priority 3 week service. We are not operating the same day service for the foreseeable future.
What is it going to cost?
If you request a copy of a certificate online, you can pay online.
If you require documents posting, please add £2 for secure recorded UK postage.
If your documents are to be sent overseas, international postage is £6.
What we need from you
Complete the form in full, providing all the information requested.
We will ask you to register for a MyDoncaster account if you haven’t already. This will allow you to track your enquiry, and for us to tell you the outcome of your request. You will also be able to access additional online services offered by us.
For a birth certificate (short or full version):
Birth certificates are produced in both short or full versions, however the cost is the same for both. If you need a certificate for official purposes e.g. a passport application, you will need a full certificate, short ones may not be accepted.

- date and place of birth
- parents' names
- mother's maiden name
For a death certificate:
- full name of the deceased
- date and place of death
For a marriage certificate:
- full names of the couple
- date and the place of marriage
For a civil partnership certificate:
Copies of civil partnership certificates are provided as either extracts or as full certificates, the cost is the same for both. The full certificate will show all details, the extract does not have any address details, as in order to obtain a full certificate the customer must provide the address details of both partners as correct at the time that the civil partnership took place.

What you should expect from us
A copy of the certificate will be sent out to you or you can choose to collect it from the Register Office in the Civic Office, Waterdale, DN1 3BU.
Someone else is able to collect your certificate on your behalf if you provide them with your name, address and date of birth.
