Doncaster set to receive £116,000 to boost local heritage

Exciting plans are already underway following the news that City of Doncaster has received a government funding boost of £116,000 to support and strengthen local heritage and culture.

The £20 million Museum Renewal Fund will be shared among 75 local and regional museums and aims to improve access to collections and museums, as well as protect community and educational programmes, helping to ensure museums across the country remain fit for the future.

Doncaster’s funding will go towards further enhancing the much loved Cusworth Hall and Park, a beautiful Grade I Listed building set in acres of historic parkland offers spectacular views across the city.

Councillor David Nevett, Cabinet Member for Adults, Wellbeing and Culture, said: “We’re delighted with the news that Doncaster has received support from the Museum Renewal Fund which will further boost all the wonderful work of our dedicated staff and volunteers to celebrate and share our rich heritage with residents, visitors and future generations.

“This vital funding will strengthen the site’s position as a popular visitor attraction in Doncaster by enabling us to plan an exciting programme of events and activities throughout the year, expanding volunteering opportunities and exploring future possibilities for the Bothy, one of the oldest buildings in the Park.

“We’re looking forward to sharing our plans so please watch this space for updates in the new year.”
