Doncaster awarded over £61m through Government Pride in Place Programme
Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones confirmed Doncaster has been awarded over £61 million through the Government's Pride in Place Programme.
Mayor Jones said “I am delighted that Doncaster has been allocated £61.5 million of Government funding through the Pride in Place programme that will breathe new life into some of our most deprived communities over a ten-year period.
"The timing could not be better with it following our Big Neighbourhoods Conversation where our residents have been telling us what they would like to see in their communities. In Doncaster we are committed to working with all of our communities, bringing added benefits to local neighbourhoods.
"This funding provides fantastic opportunities to build on the work already taking place across our city and is very much in line with Doncaster’s direction to build services around the needs of our residents and communities.
"I can confirm that the areas of Doncaster receiving this investment are:
- Conisbrough North
- New Rossington
- Mexborough West
"This is the first time in a very long time that we have had this amount of money to invest in dedicated communities and where we can make big funding decisions at a very local level in consultation with the people who live and work there.
"Today’s announcement is part of the government’s Plan for Change, a decade-long mission to back the people who make their communities thrive. It sits alongside wider work to deliver cleaner, safer streets, create opportunities on every doorstep, and build the homes, roads and GP surgeries people need to thrive.
"I look forward to seeing how we can work with local residents to transform plans into reality”
