Advertising planning applications

Statutory publicity

All developments are subject to some form of mandatory notification/advertising:

Major applications:

  • a site notice placed on a lamppost or telegraph pole near to the site which normally gives a 21 day period for responses
  • lists of new applications, which have received a site notice, are published in the local press newspaper fortnightly on a Thursday
  • copies of the applications' supporting information are available online from the 1st September 2009. An interactive list of applications received is also accessible online at  Planning Applications Online

Minor applications - as categorised by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG):

  • the case officer writes directly to any neighbouring properties that they feel may be affected by the proposed development, (usually those who share a boundary with the application site), giving the statutory 21 days response time
  • an interactive list of applications received is accessible online at Planning Applications Online
  • the Planning Portal provides a vast amount of FAQ that are continually updated and can be accessed here Planning Portal - FAQ's
