Evidence base

A range of evidence is being produced to accompany the Local Plan.

Local Plan Examination

The Local Plan has now been Submitted to Government, this includes the Evidence Base and any relevant updates, the full list of documents submitted and details about the examination are available at Local Plan Examination.

Evidence Base

  • Call for Sites - in 2014 landowners and developers were invited to submit sites that could be considered for development through the new Local Plan.

  • Development Limits - proposed methodology guiding identification of the Local Plan’s development limits (also known as settlement boundaries)

  • Economic Forecasts and Housing Need Assessment - helps set targets for amounts of new housing and employment land through the Local Plan.

  • Employment Land Need Assessment - helps set targets for amount of new employment land through the Local Plan.

  • Flood Risk and Drainage - studies to enable assessment of flood risk for proposed developments.

  • Green Belt Review - examines whether land should be released from the Green Belt as part of the Local Plan.

  • Green Space Documents - Green Space Audit documents and 'Local Green Space' evidence proposed by local communities for special protection.

  • Gypsy and Traveller Needs Accommodation Assessment (GTANA) - identifies the need to protect existing or provide new sites for gypsies and travelling show people.

  • Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) -  is required under the European Directive 92/43/EEC on the "conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora for plans" that may have an impact of internationally important European (Natura 2000) Sites.
