There is currently no evidence that people living with HIV are more likely to catch COVID-19 than anyone else. those on HIV treatment with a good CD4 count (over 200) and an undetectable viral load are not considered to have weakened immune systems and should follow the national guidance on social distancing.  If you are not on treatment or if you have a detectable viral load, then it is particularly important that you follow national guidance to reduce the risk of catching COVID-19.  The British HIV association recommends anyone with a CD4 count less than 50 or those diagnosed with an opportunistic infection in the last 6 months should follow the government advice to "shield" themselves.
