Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG)

The second wave of our Additional Restriction Grants (ARG) are now available for creative and cultural organisations, who were impacted by coronavirus restrictions, across Doncaster.

  • We can support organisations with their policies and procedures required for this grant – let us know via the mailbox and we will be in touch.
  • You can submit a bid in partnership with another organisation, individual or group as part of a consortium bid.
  • We cannot fund costs for building, equipment purchase, premises leasing (anything that is classed as capital or a business asset).
  • We can fund materials, hire of artists for a project, venue hire and staff time towards the project – costs incurred purely to run your event.

The Additional Restriction Grants (ARG) funding scheme aims to support businesses severely impacted by coronavirus restrictions when most needed. The Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) will help safeguard the future of the cultural and creative industries across South Yorkshire.

This funding will support local creative and cultural organisations and businesses in Doncaster, by enabling new creative work that will inspire vibrancy in our towns and villages.

What types of projects will be funded?

Projects could include but are not limited by: 

  • Programme installations, exhibitions, events, festivals, performances, or public art.      
  • Interventions to raise awareness of climate change & biodiversity crisis, inspiring local people to act and make change.  
  • Implementing changes to be able to operate a green sustainable business. 
  • Skills development for the workforce or residents, creating jobs, internships, work experience, student placements.   
  • Interventions to improve people's health and wellbeing. 
  • Initiatives in public spaces to help to reduce antisocial behaviour and make places feel safer.    
  • Culture education activities for children and young people and families that can take place in schools or communities.

Applicants will also be expected to consider how their proposals can contribute to some of the borough's Great 8 priorities and 6 Wellbeing goals below:

Who is eligible for this grant?

To be eligible to apply for this grant:

  • You must be a start-up (Doncaster resident), micro or Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) based in the South Yorkshire regional boundary, which is currently trading.
  • Your business needs to have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.
  • Your business must have the ability to survive following the impact of COVID-19.
  • The business must not be in liquidation, dissolved, struck off or subject to a striking off notice
  • Your business staff headcount must be below 250 Full time equivalent (FTE). Businesses with more than 250 employees will not be eligible.
  • Your business must have a balance sheet of below €43million.
  • Your business must have a turnover of below €50million.
  • Your grant must support in generating greater vibrancy and economic impact within the culture and creative industries in Doncaster.

A. Micro Grants up to £5,000 B. Mid-Range Grants up to £10,000 C. Large Grants up to £40,000

Activity must be delivered by March 2022.

Must agree to take part in the final Sheffield City Region Grant evaluation programme.

Must meet the eligibility criteria (see guidance form) and the due diligence measures below.

You will have the relevant Safeguarding Policy for those who are delivering face to face activities involving children and young people and vulnerable adults (to include whistleblowing, LADO and PREVENT procedures).

You must provide evidence that you meet all Due Diligence criteria applicable to your application and detailed below.

Artist/organisation must be based within the South Yorkshire regional boundary.

Activity must take place within the Doncaster boundary.

Activity must be delivered by March 2022.

Must agree to take part in the final Sheffield City Region Grant evaluation programme.

Must meet the eligibility criteria (see guidance form) and the due diligence measures below.

You will have the relevant Safeguarding Policy for those who are delivering face to face activities involving children and young people and vulnerable adults (to include whistleblowing, LADO and PREVENT procedures).

You must provide evidence that you meet all Due Diligence criteria applicable to your application and detailed below.

Be able to provide a package of in-kind support which can include staff time, marketing and promotions, venue hire, access to equipment.

Collaborative applications can be accepted.

Must meet the eligibility criteria (see guidance form) and the due diligence measures below.

You will have the relevant Safeguarding Policy for those who are delivering face to face activities involving children and young people and vulnerable adults (to include whistleblowing, LADO and PREVENT procedures).

You must provide evidence that you meet all Due Diligence criteria applicable to your application and detailed below.

 

How do I apply?

The grant process will be open for applications from Thursday 9th December, with a closing date of Sunday 16th January 2022.
