List of services that have been affected or suspended due to Coronavirus

We are having to suspend some activities and services to make sure that we can continue to deliver the most important services and support the most vulnerable people. Thank you for your understanding and patience at this difficult time.

Under each of the headings, there is a list of activities and services that have been suspended or are operating to a limited service. We will keep this page updated as changes happen.

Legal and Democratic Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • New marriage or civil partnership bookings are only being taken for ceremonies taking place after 1st October. From 4th July, existing bookings that have gone through the legal process are now able to go ahead with restrictions in place

Customers, Digital and Corporate Resources

One Stop Shop has reopened for customers who are unable to access services online or by telephone.

The following services are operating but have been scaled back:

  • Pest Control - are now taking bookings for pests that can be treated from OUTSIDE your home or business premise ONLY. Unfortunately we are unable to enter properties at this time so please bear this in mind when booking your appointment. 

Local Offer, Children and Young People

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Parental advocacy for exclusion
  • Independent travel training
  • New commissioning for services unless in direct response (Focus remains on coronavirus related activity)
  • Quality assurance of new providers
  • Ofsted visits
  • Standards and Effectiveness Team school visits - the team continue to support school leaders 
  • Family hubs are starting to reintroduce services on an appointment basis only (not currently open for drop-ins). You can contact family hubs by phone or get involved with the Virtual Family Hub online

Adult Social Care Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • SMILE Day Services are running a significantly reduced service, support for clients is being given from care providers to maintain day activities. For more information and contact details go to the Day Opportunities webpage.

Libraries & Heritage Services

Central LibraryEdlington LibraryMexborough Library and Thorne Library are all now open for returns and book collections ONLY. There will be no building access or PC access. A new Order & Collect service is now available with books available to collect from these 4 libraries only. Please check new opening times before you visit.

Doncaster’s 21 Community Libraries are being supported on a case-by-case basis to prepare and open up services in a limited way to ensure continued safety for volunteers and customers to return, however electronic services (ebooks, e-audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and comics) are still operating. The following activities and services have been suspended:
  • Cusworth Hall is closed to the public, the parkland remains open. We are busy planning how to reopen in a way that keeps our customers and staff safe
  • All Museum Outreach and Events has now stopped – however, we are providing a service online

Economy and Environment

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Collection of Small Electrical items and Textiles from the kerbside
  • Closure of Civic Quarter car park (other car parks now open)
  • New Taxi driver applications
  • Taxi meter sealing

The following services are operating but have been scaled back:

The following services are operating but please bear with us as we are dealing with a backlog.

  • Cyclical Grass Cutting
  • Cemetery maintenance
  • Weed Spraying
  • Cyclical Cleansing
  • Tree Inspections and Works
  • Regulation and enforcement site visits (including food safety and trading standards)
