List of services that have been suspended due to Coronavirus

We are having to suspend some activities and services to make sure that we can continue to deliver the most important services and support the most vulnerable people. Thank you for your understanding and patience at this difficult time.

Under each of the headings, there is a list of activities and services that have been suspended. We will keep this page updated as changes happen.

Legal and Democratic Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • FOI responses.
  • Routine internal audits.
  • Access to the Land Charges Register for Personal Search Companies.
  • No new marriage or civil partnership bookings and any weddings due to take place over the next few weeks are cancelled due to the current situation.
  • Birth registration appointments have been suspended.
  • Copy certificates have been suspended.
  • All council meetings (except urgent planning & licensing committees).
  • Arranging and clerking admission appeal panels and exclusion review panels (pending Department of Education Guidance to proceed again).

Customers, Digital and ICT Services

One Stop Shop is currently closed for the foreseeable future.

Local Offer, Children and Young People

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Fixed penalty notices for attendance
  • Fixed penalty notices for excluded children in public places
  • In year admissions
  • Admissions appeals
  • In year fair access panel
  • Child employment and performance licences
  • Parental advocacy for exclusion
  • Direct outreach for children in schools
  • Zero fare bus passes
  • independent travel training
  • Music tuition and ensembles
  • Year 6 to year 7 transition
  • new commissioning for services unless in direct response
  • No quality assurance of new providers
  • Attendance case work
  • No attendance prosecutions
  • No elective home education visits
  • No Ofsted visits
  • No statutory data returns
  • Local authority support for managed moves and part time timetables
  • Distributing new funding allocation to schools
  • No school visits
  • No new short break assessments or reviews
  • No new early help assessments

Adult Social Care Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • SMILE Day Services have been suspended, support for clients is being given from care providers to maintain day activities
  • We will not be able to providing any sensory equipment delivery or repairs
  • Non-emergency Learning Disabilities Respite will not be able to be accommodated during the current period

Community Safety Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Some schools are without school crossing wardens

Libraries & Heritage Services

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Front line library services in all 25 branches, including Central Library have all closed, however electronic services (ebooks) are still operating
  • Schools Library service as schools have requested we do not visit and most are closed. 
  • Cusworth Hall and Park are now closed to the public
  • All Museum Outreach and Events has now stopped – however we are providing a service online
  • Prison Libraries are open but with reduced hours, further assessment will be made in the coming days

Economy and Environment

The following activities and services have been suspended:

  • Green waste collections (Suez)
  • Household Waste and Recycling Centres will close at 12 noon 25/3/20
  • Toilets (Sandall Park)
  • Grounds Maintenance operations: weed spraying, grass cutting of highway verges, parks and playing fields
  • Cinema and Station Forecourt building works
  • Maintenance and use of play areas, skate parks and multi-use games areas (closed as part of Government directive)
  • Closure of Colonnades and Civic Quarter car parks (other car parks currently remain open)
