Tackling crime

Our five safer neighbourhood teams work to tackle and reduce the causes of crime in communities across Doncaster at the same time making your neighbourhood safer.

To report a crime, contact:

  • the police on 101
  • always call 999 in an emergency

Safer neighbourhood teams are a joint initiative between the council and South Yorkshire Police, working to address problems of crime and antisocial behaviour and other neighbourhood issues. In Doncaster the teams work in dedicated areas: North, East, South, West and Urban.

Each safer neighbourhood team is led by a police inspector and a council area manager. A police sergeant and council neighbourhood manager are in charge of each of the neighbourhoods in that team. The teams are comprised of police community support officers and council area officers, who provide not only a visible presence in the fight against crime, but also a direct point of contact in local neighbourhoods.
