Help for ‘green’ community projects
The deadline for local community groups to apply for funding to help with environmental projects has been extended to Friday 28 February.
This is to give more people a chance to benefit from a special Fund which has helped with a range of schemes including a social inclusion allotment project, a healthy eating summer school and turning a disused piece of land at a school into a nature club.
The Renewi (formerly Shanks) Corporate Social Responsibility Fund supports communities surrounding the BDR Waste Partnership’s award-winning waste treatment facility at Manvers, helping up to four local projects a year through volunteer time and/or money.
Renewi Community Education Liaison Officer, Abi Cox, said: “We aim to be a good neighbour and make a positive contribution to the local community. In addition to making more from waste, we want to help the communities we serve more broadly and we hope that initiatives we support will contribute to making them healthier and happier places to live.”
Local groups and schools can apply to the Fund. Application forms and full details of the criteria are on the BDR Waste Partnership website at www.bdronline.co.uk
