Assistive Technology could help residents stay independent for longer

Doncaster Council has today launched a new campaign encouraging local residents to explore assistive technology as a way for them, or their relatives, to stay more independent.

It is widely accepted that people are better able to lead happy and fulfilling lives if they are able to continue to live in their own homes, amongst their own communities, and maintaining their social networks for as long as possible. Assistive Technology provides an important option to help enable people to live independently; from apps to help with anxiety to pill dispensers to GPS trackers to stay safe.

As part of the campaign, Doncaster Council has released three short animations which highlight the different ways in which people use of technology in their day-to-day life to stay independent for longer. You can see the videos below: 

Whilst residents can buy the gadgets for themselves, carers and relatives are also being encouraged to look into how assistive technology may benefit the people they care for.
