Finalists

Ryan Carpenter
The tragic loss of a local young person in a road traffic accident spurred Ryan to apply to Doncaster Council's 'youth bank' for funding to purchase high visibility road safety armbands for all primary students in the Mexborough area.

Ryan was so determined to get the money that he did all his own research on the cost of armbands and numbers of primary students in the area as well as attended an interview with the youth bank panel to discuss the project.

Once he secured the funding, he then enlisted friends to take part in a road safety performance at primary schools throughout Mexborough.

Molly Grayson
In 2007 Molly was the youngest competitor in the British National Junior Swimming Championships. She came away with a Silver medal making her the youngest ever medallist in the championship’s history.

A dedicated swimmer, she regularly attends a two and a half hour training session at five o’clock in the morning followed by further training sessions on an evening and weekend.

Ranked number one in the country for her age, Molly is level headed and modest, blending effortlessly back into the Club when competing at a local level.

Christopher Harrison
Chris is singles and doubles Tennis Champion for Yorkshire, is ranked in the top 12 in the UK and number 600 in the World.

His achievements come despite having to train on an outdoor court in all weathers when his peers train at specialist indoor tennis centres or abroad at International Tennis Academies.

He is proud of his Doncaster roots and is an excellent ambassador for Doncaster, respected by his peers, often winning “Most Sporting Player” awards and known nationally as a Doncaster player.

Joy Staniforth
Joy has managed the amazing achievement of receiving 7 A grades at A level, having already achieved 10 A* grades at GCSE.

This outstanding student has demonstrated a real commitment to her studies and her hard work and determination have been rewarded with excellent results.

Joy provides others with a very positive example of what is possible if you have the drive and, having secured a place at Cambridge University to study Medicine, is an excellent role model to the borough’s young people.
