GEM Council Employee of the Year - Alan Marsh

Alan Marsh

Alan Marsh receives his award from Mayor Martin Winter

Alan Marsh has been a Welfare Driver for Transport Services since 2005, with his main duty being to convey vulnerable clients to and from day care centres.

He was nominated for his attempts to resuscitate a client who had collapsed. His prompt and calm response to the situation resulted in the client’s life being saved and the revived client being taken to the ICU Department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Following this incident Alan demonstrated that he is the ultimate professional continuing with his duties so that other clients were not upset. It is this dedication to delivering above and beyond that has lead to Alan being named the Council employee of the year.

GEM Council Team of the Year - Transport Team

Transport Team

The Transport team with Gervaise Phinn and Mayor Martin Winter

Richard Speight, fleet engineer; Craig Elliott mechanic and MOT tester; and Craig Barnard mechanic and MOT tester

Not a team to stand by when help is needed Richard, Craig and Craig volunteered to repair a minibus owned by the Thorne Group for the Mentally Handicapped, which had been vandalised. Knowing that the group had limited funds and the people who they help would be left with no service with the minibus off the road, the Transport Team came to the rescue.

They repaired the vehicle at no cost to the group by using salvaged parts and the project exhibited strong community spirit, reflecting positively upon the Service, Directorate and Council as a whole.
