Bilingual classroom support

Bilingual assistants are available to schools through the Traded Service. Schools requiring bilingual support should contact EMTAS to make the request. (We advise schools to inform parents as a courtesy that an EMTAS staff member will be working with their child in class.)

Requests to buy in bilingual support can be made by telephone: 01302 734225 or emtas@doncaster.gov.uk

Bilingual support is available in over 27 different languages.

Regular weekly support sessions are advised, though staff are available to facilitate specific occasions such as admission meetings, a child’s first day at their new school, meetings with parents, and assessments.

First language exams

Where community languages are offered at GCSEs and A-level, bilingual staff can prepare students, provide tuition, and conduct oral assessments.

Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils new to education settling in

For children from a Traveller background entering education for the first time, schools can request up to 6 sessions of free settling in support from our experienced classroom assistants.
