About the Local Development Framework and Local Plan

The Doncaster Local Plan will contain the emerging planning policies for Doncaster, this will replace the current Local Development Framework and Unitary Development Plan.

The Doncaster Local Plan will eventually replace the LDF - in the meantime the LDF will be used as the basis for making decisions on planning applications along with the saved parts of the UDP which have not yet been replaced.

Withdrawal of the Sites and Policies Development Plan Document

In light of concerns expressed by the Inspector during the examination hearing sessions, a meeting of full council took place on 25 September 2014 at which Members resolved to withdraw the Sites and Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) from examination.

Doncaster's Local Development Framework

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the current development plan for Doncaster and sets out how the borough will develop and grow in the future. This framework includes the following documents:

Core Strategy

The Core Strategy is now in place and decides what gets built, where and when. This includes the number of new homes we need to build and the amount of space we need to support new jobs and business.

Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham Joint Waste Plan

The Joint Waste Plan sets out our strategy for managing different types of waste across Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham up until 2026. It identifies sites for major waste management facilities and safeguards a range of existing facilities to address our current and future needs that will maximise recycling, support green jobs and divert waste from landfill.

Supplementary Planning Documents

In addition, we have produced Supplementary Planning Documents to provide more detailed guidance on specific policies and sites set out in the LDF.

Neighbourhood Plans

Local communities such as parish councils are preparing neighbourhood plans to guide development and change within their area. Neighbourhood Plans will continue to be developed alongside the Local Plan.

Local Development Scheme

The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out a detailed programme for the preparation of Local Development Documents, including timetables, which tell people when the various stages in the preparation of the Local Development Documents will be carried out.

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how and when we will involve the community and stakeholders in the preparation of the Local Plan. It should be read in conjunction with the Local Development Scheme.

Monitoring and implementation

Various reports are produced to monitor the implementation of the LDF and the emerging Local Plan.
