Doncaster Council’s Local Council Tax Support scheme helps around 24,500 people on a low income to pay their Council Tax. We proposed making some changes to our Local Council Tax Support scheme from 1 April 2019. The changes would make it easier for people on Universal Credit to claim support and may also result in some people receiving more support.
Whenever we change our Local Council Tax Support scheme, the law says that we must consult people with an interest in the scheme. This includes people receiving Local Council Tax Support and also the wider community of people living and working in Doncaster.
The consultation ran from 3rd December 2018 to 6th January 2019 and is now closed.
The results will be used to decide whether we should make the proposed changes to our Local Council Tax Support scheme. The final scheme from 1 April 2019 will be decided at a meeting of all Doncaster Councillors on 24 January 2019.
A summary of the results of the consultation and the proposed Local Council Tax Support Scheme for 2019 can be viewed on the Local Council Tax Support page. The page also has the current 2018 scheme and details on how to apply for help with your Council Tax bill.
