Welcome to Route 2000 and Together Information Exchange (TIE)

Route 2000 and Together Information Exchange (TIE)

Route 2000 and TIE are two initiatives in Doncaster working to provide better information to families who have a child with special needs or disabilities.

What is Together Information Exchange?

Together Information Exchange is Doncaster's register for children with disabilities. Families with a child with disabilities or additional needs can register and will receive a quarterly magazine as well as regular information updates on relevant issues. To join, download newsletters or for more information, please see the separate TIE webpage: www.doncaster.gov.uk/tie

What is Route 2000?

The Route 2000 group is made up of local parents of children with disabilities and professionals, who came together in 1998 using their joint experiences and knowledge to help the families and carers of children with disabilities.  The name 'Route 2000' was born out of the idea that the Directory would guide you along the route through life, signposting services and information that might help you on your journey.  The Directory is the first such source of information in Doncaster - we hope you find it useful.

This website is an online version of the information contained in the printed Directory, with added information and links to external organisations.

If you would like a printed copy of the Directory, you can get one from the Child Health Information Centre (CHIC) at Doncaster Royal Infirmary Mon-Fri Tel (01302) 366666 x3878 or from the Health Focus shop in the Colonnades Centre, Doncaster town centre Mon-Fri Tel (01302) 768550. Directories cost £1 for families of a child with disabilities, £10 for professionals.

A Parent's Observations:

"If possible, try to build up a support network of family and friends right from the start.  Don't isolate yourselves, thinking you are the only ones able to look after your child, or that you can't 'put on' people when help is offered.  Your child will benefit from seeing new faces and being in different environments; when they are older and want to go out without their parents you will have someone to call on whom they are confident with."
