SAIDSEND

SAIDSEND - Support, Advice, Information Doncaster Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Does your child or you have special educational needs and/or a disability and are they or you under the age of 25?

We can provide independent information, guidance and support for parents/carers of children with any level of special educational needs and/or disabilities.  We also provide support for young people up to 25 who have disabilities too.  The best results can be achieved if parents, carers, teachers and others involved with you or your child work together to make a difference to your child's education and the lives of young people. We work with agencies and professionals to give parents/carers and young people the information you need to achieve the best possible future for you or your children.  We support you by enabling you to have a voice.

*We are a self referral service, however we do recognise there are occasions when parents would like professionals to refer on their behalf.  Please see our attachments for a referral form for professionals and other agencies.  Please note: this must be signed by parents/carers or young person to give consent before we contact*.

Please see our selection of leaflets developed for parents/carers and professionals.  Our brochure and confidentiality/impartiality policies are also attached.

How can we help?

  • Support with documentation in relation to the Statutory Assessments and the new Education Health and Care Plan as well as the statementing processes

  • Advice and support around short Breaks and respite with Aiming High and Together Information Exchange (who hold Doncaster's Legal database to record children with needs).

  • Advice and support around ensuring that your child's and/or your views are included in all decisions that affect your/their educational, health and care needs

  • We also offer support at meetings in schools, nurseries or with the local authority about your child's or your own needs

  • We provide a sign posting and listening service to help you find a service that you or your family may need in relation to needs and disabilities.

We are part of the Information, Advice and Support Services Network (previously National Parent Partnership Network). This Network (now IASS) is based at the Council For Disabled Children and is funded by the Department for Education (DfE).  They provide a support network and promote the work of IASS services (formerly Parent Partnership).
