Town centre shopping made easier thanks to the Frenchgate Interchange
During my term we have achieved some improvements in bus services, including investment in newer vehicles.
I am continuing to push the Government to allow us to open the bus lanes to all vehicles outside peak times, as has happened in Leeds and Bradford. I want to let people travel as they wish and make it as easy as possible for them to do so. We want cars to have easy access to the town from all parts of the borough.
As stated under priority 1 we have received excellent news in terms of funding for some key road infrastructure projects. On top of this we have secured planning permission for an Inland Port at Rossington.
This port is thought to be the largest green belt development to have been granted permission in the UK and the proposal will see a rail freight terminal built served by rail and road, 562,000m2 of warehouses, over 100 hectares of ecological enhancements, and a road link to Junction 3 of the M18 that provides the first stage of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS).
