Peter Davies, The Mayor of Doncaster is the elected Mayor of Doncaster.
The Mayor is the council’s political leader. Elected on a four-year term of office, he has personal responsibility and executive powers with authority to delegate work through the appointment of a Cabinet. In contrast the Civic Mayor holds a ceremonial role and is elected by Full Council each year. The Civic Mayor chairs all Full Council meetings which take place throughout the year.
The Mayor proposes an annual budget and policy framework which Full Council debate and approve. The Mayor is responsible for the effective implementation of council policy and delivering services.
Statutory requirements mean certain decisions are made by Committees, not the Mayor, these include the Planning Committee and Licensing Committee.
The Mayor represents Doncaster Council and the borough on a local, national and international platform.
