Message from the Mayor

As a local authority I believe we’re now operating better than we have done for some time and I am pleased with the progress made – particularly given the significant funding reductions imposed by the Government.

There are certainly plenty of challenges ahead as we strive to save even more millions and limit damage to frontline services over the next four years. However, serving the people of Doncaster is a great honour and a real privilege and I’d like to pay tribute to all of our officers, councillors, partners and the public who contribute to my commitment of improving the borough and ensuring residents are offered the best possible services.

I firmly believe Doncaster is going places. The borough has a terrific history, great prospects and advantages most other towns would give their eye teeth for. I’m continually striving to make use of our assets – a jewel of a racecourse, fantastic arts and leisure venues and excellent transport links. We are striving for city status and Doncaster should be one of the most successful places in Britain.
