Bokashi Bins

An incredible 9,000 Bokashi Bins have been distributed across the Borough since we started our free introductory offer over a year ago. This offer has now ended but there are details below on where you can purchase a Bokashi bin.

What is a Bokashi Bin?

Bokashi Bins are an 18 litre, counter top composters, which can be used to compost virtually 100% of all kitchen waste, including meat, fish, dairy products and cooked food, and are a great way to reduce amount of waste sent to landfill.

The system uses a natural bran-based activator called Bokashi, which is coated in friendly bacteria. 

Food waste is placed into the container along with a handful of Bokashi and on fitting the lid the composting process starts. 

After just a few weeks the contents of the container can be added to your home composting bin, or mixed into the soil in your garden, without the fear of attracting flies.
