Education and Training Opportunities

It is vital for local organisations to have at their disposal an adequate number of knowledgeable, skilled and motivated volunteers. Active Doncaster therefore provides, or facilitates access to, a comprehensive range of education and training opportunities, an outline of which is given in the booklet below.

Sports Coach UK (formerly called National Coaching Foundation - NCF)

Sports Coach UK provide a range of courses, publications and services to equip coaches with the knowledge to assist them in their development and the development of those they coach. Just a few examples of current 'hot topics' being covered by Sports Coach UK are:

Sports Leader Awards

The British Sports Trust administers the following Awards:

Junior Sports Leader Award (JSLA)  is for children of 14 years of age and above. It aims to develop their skills in sports leadership and is usually taught in schools

Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA)  for those over the age of 16, teaches skills of leadership through sport in the community

The Higher Sports Leader Award (HSLA) builds upon leadership skills learnt through CSLA. The syllabus includes working with specific community groups, enabling sports leaders to lead sports sessions for young children, disabled people and older people.
