About School Governor Forums and Networks

There are a number of Forums and Governor Network Groups held during the year to consider and discuss issues of interest to Governors.

Governor Forums

Governor Forums are held at the beginning of each school term and are repeated at different locations across the Borough. These Forums are open to all Governors within Doncaster.

Forum meetings are intended to provide updates for governors on ongoing issues in schools and the Local Authority, to review the term’s Governing Body generic agenda items and will then normally offer a choice of two specific workshops addressing pertinent issues.

School Governor Initiative Group (GIGs)

The GIGs group is a selected group of Chairs and Vice Chairs who meet more regularly than the Forums and undertake consultations on behalf of Doncaster Governors. They also help shape and drive the work of Doncaster’s Governors’ Support Service.

Chair/Vice Chair Network Groups

These network groups are open to all Chairs and Vice Chairs of Governing Bodies and are split into Primary and Secondary Networks. These groups meet on a termly basis to consider consultations and issues of interest with the Local Authority.
