LDF - Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD)

Adoption of the Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD)

The Core Strategy DPD was formally adopted following approval at Full Council on 18 May 2012.

The Core Strategy, part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), sets out a spatial vision for the area, and key strategic objectives and strategic policies for development. It covers a range of topics, such as the economic well-being of the borough, Green Belt and flood risk areas and transport choices.

It is Informed by issues raised through consultation and the Council's overall approach as set out in the Borough Strategy.

A separate Waste Core Strategy has been prepared with Barnsley and Rotherham (known as the Joint Waste Plan).

The council has now begun work on a Local Plan, this is the next generation of plan and will replace the current saved UDP policies and LDF documents (including the Core Strategy).
