Architecture Centres

There are a few Architecture Centres around the UK, mostly in the big cities. No two are alike but they have some things in common - they tell the story of the value of having the best architecture and design to make our towns and villages places of beauty that are a pleasure to live and work in. They also show how people can go about achieving this. Most Architecture Centres are partnerships of people and organisations which share this goal. They may consist of designers working out of offices and offering services to the community or they can be public venues which demonstrate best practice in design. RIBA - (the Royal Institution of British Architects) is a major partner and supporter of Architecture Centres. CABE - (the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) - encourages the establishment and support of new centres. Yorkshire Forward is currently promoting a network of local Centres in our region. The ODPM - (Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) has announced that a national centre of excellence for quality in the built environment is to be built in Leeds.
