Theme Updates
Crime and Community Development
Christmas Open Day
The NDC Community Development Team is holding an informal Christmas Open Day on Friday 19th December 11am until 3pm at The Maridon Centre, Netherhall Road. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day and there will be an opportunity for NDC residents to meet members of other groups to share their experiences and ideas. For more information please contact Diana Hawley on 01302 761081.
Extra Policing
Over the winter period, people feel fearful, of going out and about especially at night. The recent MORI survey across the NDC area highlighted this. Last year NDC funding of extra policing over this period was so popular and successful, that we thought it appropriate to do it again. NDC has funded the cost of extra patrols and operations throughout the long dark nights. Hopefully this will help NDC residents feel more secure.
Alleygates Arrive
The first concentrated phase of Alleygates through NDC will be being provided early in the New Year. More than 25 gates will be located in the NDC area of Hexthorpe. The programme for Nether Hall is moving a little slower with additional work being undertaken to ensure a full majority of residents support the proposals.

Education and Employment
Turning unemployment into self-employment
Setting up in business can be difficult but thanks to advice and financial assistance from Ways2Work, Catherine Barlow, an NDC resident was able to achieve her dream of setting up her own beauty therapy business. Ways2Work was able to pay for the cost of the courses along with providing financial assistance towards her travel and accommodation costs. For more information on how Ways2Work could help you call 01302 815771.
NDC supports Balby Central School
NDC have agreed to support Balby Central Primary School by funding extra learning opportunities over the next three years through evening and holiday morning learning sessions. This project, at approx £11,000 per year, will help the school develop much needed additional learning opportunities for local children.
Neighbourhood Nursery
NDC is excited to announce a partnership with the national Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative to build a new 50 place Nursery at Lakeside Primary School to serve the local community. Planning applications have just been submitted and construction will start, hopefully, early in the New Year.
Stirling Super Start, Children's Centre
In addition to the Neighbourhood Nursery Initiative, we are also excited about the progress of the plans for a partnership with the national Children's Centre Initiative to develop a major centre at Stirling School. This will provide much needed family support for families in the Balby Bridge and Hyde Park areas.
