South Yorkshire Trading Standards made up of the four Authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield have won a prestigious individual award for their joint partnership.
At the Trading Standards Institute National Conference in Brighton, South Yorkshire Trading Standards participated with an exhibition theme of “Improving Standards through Partnership”. Since the Conference was in Brighton the exhibition stand was given a ‘seaside flavour’ with a variety of seaside attractions. These included a comic postcard and a seaside win a prize ‘grabber’ machine, as well as the staff wearing seaside attire. Almost £160 from the grabber was donated to the College of Fellows, a charitable organisation designed to give assistance to individuals who find themselves in difficult circumstances.
The Minister for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs, Gerry Sutcliffe MP attended the Conference and visited the South Yorkshire stand.
Such was the high standard of South Yorkshire’s exhibition, demonstrating the effectiveness of joint partnership working, that they were awarded the prize for the best Local Government stand at the Conference.
