Licence - Weighbridge Operator
A public weighbridge is, as the name suggests, a weighbridge that is available for the public to use.
Operators of public weighbridges need to hold a certificate of competence issued by the Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures. This ensures that they can perform their duties competently and honestly and can be obtained after performing a basic test. No one can operate public weighing equipment unless he or she holds a certificate.
Public Weighbridge Operators tests are conducted by virtue of the Weights and Measures Act 1985
The current fee for licence applications is as recommended by the Local authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory services (LACORS).
To book a test, we need to know the following information
- Employer's name and contact number
- Address at which the test is to be given
- Details of equipment on which test is to be given including the make and type of indication (i.e. digital, steelyard or chart/dial)
