Housing Associations

Housing Associations are non-profit making organisations run by voluntary committees, providing housing either by improvement of existing properties or by constructing new buildings.

7.2 Adaptations
 

The local authority may, depending on assessment and personal circumstances, arrange equipment and adaptations for the home for safety, comfort and suitability.

Help is also available from Occupational Therapy at your local Social Services (Also see sections 3.2, 5.10 & 11.1).

The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is the main source of funding for adaptations. Any tenant, landlord or owner-occupier can apply.

If your home has been specially adapted for your disabled child, the Council Tax bill may be reduced. If you think you are eligible:

7.3 Accessible Housing Register
 

The Accessible Housing Register was started in January 2005 and aims to match tenants with disabilities with suitable housing.  This can be an adapted property or a suitable property that can be adapted.
