Residents in Edenthorpe and Kirk Sandall can look forward to a range of new facilities and equipment at Far Field.
A comprehensive scheme coordinated by Doncaster Council is lined up which will see the area become an exceptional new outdoor space for the local communities.
The plans follow a consultation exercise last year with the local community, local elected members and relevant parish councils. A significant majority of respondents supported the plans and their priorities have been incorporated into the scheme. The project is expected to cost over £300,000 and will be funded through Section 106 development contributions from nearby housing developments.
The proposed improvements include:
Outdoor gym equipment
Additional allotment plots
A community garden
A range of play equipment
Entrance point enhancements
Small car parking area
The scheme is currently going through the planning process and, subject to approval, works will start on site early in the New Year with completion expected by early summer 2018.
Cllr Chris McGuinness, Cabinet Member for Communities, said:
“The proposed scheme is great news for the local area. It has been designed around what the community wanted and will offer people of all ages a first class place where they can go to have some fun, exercise or simply enjoy themselves and relax.”
Cllr David Newitt, Ward Member for Edenthorpe and Kirk Sandall, said:
“Having consulted the local residents about this area and the range of facilities going to be installed there, the local users chose from a selection of accessories to own what will be delivered. It is especially pleasing to be involved in a positive proactive addition to this area. Local elected members are proud to have been able to help bring together the different elements to deliver a project for the local residents. We hope the residents look after and enjoy this facility for a long time.”
Cllr Andrea Robinson, also Ward Member for Edenthorpe and Kirk Sandall, said:
“A very successful consultation with residents in Edenthorpe provided a clear indication of the priorities for the area. The plans incorporate all of the ideas which were favoured by significant numbers of respondents. The area will be a welcome community resource for everyone.”
