Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS)

Following the opening of Robin Hood Airport in 2004 a feasibility study was undertaken to see how transport links from the airport to the M18 could be improved. The study also identified the need to improve access to Rossington and surrounding villages from the strategic network. A preferred route was confirmed in 2004 from M18 junction 3 to the airport along a corridor north of Rossington with connections to the A638.

This allowed a Major Scheme Business Case (MSBC) to be submitted to the Department for Transport (DfT) in 2005. However the MSBC was not progressed by DfT due to uncertainty over development forecasts within the area and potential impact upon White Rose Way and the M18.

Work is ongoing to update the MSBC to reflect new development scenarios (such as the proposed Strategic Rail Freight Interchange at junction 3) and confirming commitments to improvement to the A6182 White Rose Way and M18.

A revised MSBC will be submitted to DfT in 2010. As part of this process a consultation exercise will take place in 2010. It is expected that the scheme will be funded from contributions from DfT, Yorkshire Forward, private developers and the Council.

Woodfield Way

The ‘missing link’ on Woodfield Way between Tesco's and B&Q is being progressed through the Homes and Communities Agency which is the delivery agency for the Carr Lodge development site. As such the link will be provided as part of this overall development and a planning application for the site is expected shortly.

Further details of this proposal including the consultation programme can be found at www.communityplanning.co.uk/public/projects.php?pos=0
